Abstract:[Objectives] To assess the persistence in the environment of the residues of pesticides used to control Solenopsis invicta. [Methods] A method was developed for analyzing the residues of β-cypermethrin, fipronil and spinosad in soil and grass based on gas chromatography. [Results] The half-life of β-cypermethrin in soil and grass were 6.31 and 4.86 days, respectively, whereas the half-life of fipronil was 5.57 days and 2.96 days, respectively. Spinosad couldn’t be detected one day after application. [Conclusion] Fipronil and spinosad are safe to use on lawns.
