Toxicity and repellence effect of supercritical carbon dioxide extracts from Acorus calamus on Blattella germanica

Abstract:
Supercritical carbon dioxide extraction (SCE) extracts from Acorus calamus L. was more effective substance for contact-killing and repellence against Blattella germanica L. Using drug-film method and filter paper diffusion method, toxicity and repellence of the extracts on the 3rd instar nymphs of B. germanica were respectively determined. The results showed that the effect of the extracts on the insects were dose- and time- dependent. The contact test, showed that there were 98.33% and 100% correct mortality at 124.00 μg/cm2 after 12hour and 24hour treatment with the extracts respectively, LC50 of the extracts on the 3rd instar nymphs of the insect after 12 hour treatment was 36.45 μg/cm2. In the repellence test, 67.73% repellency of the extracts at 815.28 μg/cm2,was observed, which leveled repellency class Ⅳ.
