Abstract:
The cadherin-like proteins, major receptors of Bacillus thuringiensis insecticidal crystal protein (Bt Cry protein), are usually anchored to the membrane in the brush border membrane vesicles (BBMV) of insect midgut. The cadherin-like proteins may band with Cry1A protein so that cause change of ionic permeability and increase toxicity to susceptible insects. The mutation of insect cadherin-like proteins may result in resistance to Bt Cry protein. Therefore, the study on interaction between cadherin-like proteins and Bt Cry protein would be helpful for understanding insecticidal mechanism of Cry protein. In this paper, cadherin-like protein type, characteristics of protein structure, distribution inside of insect, and the interaction between insect cadherin-like proteins and Bt Cry1A protein were reviewed.
