Abstract:Wolbachia, which can manipulate reproduction of its hosts, is a widespread intracellular symbiont found in arthropods. Trichogramma ostriniae Pang et Chen is the dominant egg parasitoid of Ostrinia furnacalis (Guenee) in China. In this study, polymerase chain reaction assays of the 16S rDNA gene were conducted to reveal the prevalence of Wolbachia in fourteen geographical pulations of T. ostriniae in China. The results showed that all of the 1 412 T. ostriniae individuals were infected by Wolbachia. Phylogenetic analyses demonstrated that five populations (Liugou, Heze, Zhengzhou, Zhumadian and Changsha) had double infections with A-and BWolbachia. This is the first report that Wolbachia were distributed in the populations of T. ostriniae.
