Distribution of Frankliniella occidentalis on different varieties of Dianthus caryophyllus in the field

Abstract：Distribution of Frankliniella occidentalis Pergande on ten varieties of Dianthus caryophyllus was investigated in the field, and effect of color and odor of the flowers on host choice of the thrip species were evaluated. The results showed that there were significant differences in amounts of thrips in flowers among the ten varieties. Color of flowers was the main reason that affected host choice, and odor of flowers could also affect the choice.
