With the application of molecular bio-techniques in tick research and the advances in the knowledge of tick phylogeny, many changes in the nomenclature and taxonomy of ticks have taken place. However, the level of this area is still at the point of 1990s in China and the taxonomic system of ticks is out of date. This paper compared the tick taxonomic scheme used in China with that of the world current consensus, in an attempt to attract attention and promote the development of tick taxonomy and other research areas.
