Abstract:

The sudden die-off of honeybee colonies, named as Colony Collapse Disorder (CCD), broke out in the United States and other countries from the winter of 2006 to the spring of 2007. Many people are worried that the increasing deaths in bee colonies could seriously threaten the pollination of crops. In order to control the disease, CCD Working Group launched a large_scale survey and research. The results showed that the pathogens, insecticides, genetically modified crops and climatic change, etc. were regarded as the potential causes of CCD. According to the latest report, Israeli acute paralysis virus (IAPV) was shown to be strongly related to CCD, but the true reason is still unknown. The research advances in CCD and its countermeasures were discussed in this paper.
