Abstract:Phenacoccus pergandei Cockrell, a pest of persimmon trees occurred seriously lately. It has one generation per year in Zhengzhou, Henan Province, overwintered as 3rd instar nymphs in branches and crevices in the raw bark. The overwintered nymphs begin to damage the trees in early March. The adults occur in midApril. The female adults start to lay eggs in late April and the oviposition lasts for about 20 days. Eggs begin to hatch in early May with peak in mid-May. The nymphs have 3 instars. The 3rd instar overwinters in late October. The experimental results with 7 pesticides against P. pergandei showed that 40% methidathion EC (1 000-fold dilution), 3% high rmeation fenoxycarb EC (1 000-fold dilution), 25% buprofezin WP (2 000-fold dilution) has excellent result with over 90% effectiveness within 7 d and 15 d after the treatment.
