Carabus (Coptolabrus) smaragdinus Fischer von Waldheim with two generations per year overwintered in adult stage in soil in Jianxiang , Shandong Province. The adults occurred from April to October and oviposited in early July and midSeptember. The egg stage lasted eight days; the larval stage had two instars , the 1st instar was 4 days ,the 2nd instar 13～15 days; the prepupal stage lasted 15 days and the pupal stage lasted 7～8 days. Adults and larvae preyed on snail and the many Lepidoptera species.
