Abstract:Effects of fertilizers with different ratios of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium on the infestation of cashew redbanded thrip Selenothrips rubrocinctus (Giard) were studied. Three levels of N, P and K were designed. The results showed that treatments N3 P3 K2 and N3 P2 K 1 had the highest resistance to redbanded thrips, with the damage index 3.10% and 8.30% respectively, which were significantly lower than those of other treatments. Treatment N3 P1 K3 and N2 P3 K1 also showed higher resistance, with the damage index 20.40% and 20.30% respectively. Treatments N1 P2 K2 showed the lowest resistance to redbanded thrip, with the damage index 54.00%, which was significanty higher than those of other treatments. The damage of redbanded thrip on different orientation of a plant was not different, which indicated that light density had no significant effect. The results demonstrated that there was significantly negative correlation between nitrogen content and damage index caused by redbanded thrip on cashews when the nitrogen content ranged from 1.43% to 1.72%.
