Abstract:Effects of fertilizers with different ratios of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium on the infestation of cashew redbanded thrip Selenothrips rubrocinctus (Giard) were studied. Three levels of N, P and K were designed. The results showed that treatments N3  P3  K and N P K 1  had the highest resistance to redbanded thrips, with the damage index 3.10% and 8.30% respectively, which were significantly lower than those of other treatments. Treatment N3  P1  K  and N P3  K1  also showed higher resistance, with the damage index 20.40% and 20.30% respectively. Treatments N1  P K2 showed the lowest resistance to redbanded thrip, with the damage index 54.00%, which was significanty higher than those of other treatments. The damage of redbanded thrip on different orientation of a plant was not different, which indicated that light density had no significant effect. The results demonstrated that there was significantly negative correlation between nitrogen content and damage index caused by redbanded thrip on cashews when the nitrogen content ranged from 1.43% to 1.72%.
