Abstract:The leaf beetle, Monolepta hieroglyphica (Motschulsky), has become a new important pest in northern cotton planting region of Xinjiang. The developmental period of each stage had not been understood clearly. The developmental threshold temperature (C) and effective accumulative temperature (K) of M. hieroglyphica were analyzed at five constant temperatures (19, 22, 25, 28, 31℃) through effective accumulated temperature law and least square method. The result showed that the threshold temperatures of egg, larva, pupae and pre-oviposition adult were estimated to be 9.8, 10.8, 12.6 and 10.1℃, respectively, and the effective accumulated temperature were 1 182.2, 401.2, 111.9 and 269.0 degree-days, respectively. The effective accumulated temperature of one generation was 1 971.6 degreedays. It was predicted that one generation each year occurred in North of Xinjiang.
