Abstract:The application of molecular markers has become more and more important in the systematic study of mites recently. The principles and characteristics of several molecular markers, RAPD(Random Amplified Polymorphic), DALP(Direct Amplification of Length Polymorphism), AFLP(Amplified Fragment Length Polymorphism), RFLP(Restriction Fragment Length Polymorphism) SSR(Simple Sequence Repeat) and DNA Sequence Analysis which have been used in the systematic study of mites are described. The applications of these markers, in the context of mite systematic research, are reviewed. The advantages and disadvantages as their application were discussed in this paper. In addition, the applications prospects of molecular markers for the systematic study of mites were also presented.
