A study on leaf-feeding pest species in soybean in Northeast China

Abstract:     A field survey of leaf-eating pests in soybean crops was conducted from 2005 to 2007, in Harbin, Heilongjiang Province. Altogether twenty-nine species of pests were found with Aphis glycines Matsumura,  Acyrthosiphon  solani (Kalrenbach), Thrips nigropilosus Uzel, Monolepta nigrobilineata (Motsch.), Monolepta hieroglyphica (Motsch.), Ascotis selenaria Schiffermüller et Denis, Bomolocha tristalis Lederer the dominant species. A. glycines and A. solani occurred in fields in early June but A. selenaria larvae and B. tristalis larvae both occurred in late June. T. nigropilosus adults occurred from early June to early September and nymphs from mid-June to late August. M. nigrobilineata adults were found from early June to late September, and M. hieroglyphica adults were found from early July to early September.
