Abstract: Myosins are important molecular motor proteins that convert energy from ATP hydrolysis into mechanical movement along the actin filaments. Myosins constitute a large superfamily and play key roles in a number of cellular processes including muscle contraction, intracellular trafficking, hearing, vision et al. Drosophila melanogaster has 13 myosin genes, including 2 conventional myosins and 11 unconventional myosins. In this review, we summarize recent progress in Drosophila unconventional myosins.
