Abstract: The biological characteristics of Pterocoma reitteri Frivaldzky and Pterocoma loczyi Frivaldszky were observed and compared in natural and indoor conditions in Yinchuan, Ningxia. P.reitteri completes one generation in two years and hibernates as adults and larvae. The exarate pupae appear from lateJune to early-September of the second year. Adults appear in early-July. P. loczyi also completes one generation in two years and hibernates as adults and larvae. The larvae appear from mid to late March of the second year. The exarate pupae appear from late May to late July and adults in early June. Larvae of both species may kill each other when raised indoors.
