The effect on the effective matter in Mylabris using different processing methods

Abstract:       Experiments were conducted to determine the loss rate of free cantharidin and total cantharidin from three species of Mylabris using two different processing methods. Using the shallow processing method, the loss rates of free cantharidin was less than 60% and that of total cantharidin was greater than 60%. Using the deep processing method the loss rate of free cantharidin was less than 80% and that of total cantharidin was greater than 80%. Only the free cantharidin content obtained from Mylabris cichorii Linnaeus using the shallow processing method met the 0.57% standard set by China Pharmacopoeia.
