Abstract:

Methods of insecticide resistance monitoring, including microtopical and rice seedling dipping methods, adapted for resistance monitoring in the striped stem borer, are introduced. The topical method is used to bioassay contact insecticides. However, this method does not accurately reflect the activity of insecticides which act after being ingested. The rice seedling dipping technique was therefore established to detect resistance to insecticides that require ingestion, such as diamides and Bt microbial insecticides.
