中文摘要: 二化螟Chilo suppressalis (Walker)是水稻一种重要的鳞翅目害虫,作者在室内人工饲养的过程中注意到二化螟的雄虫羽化较雌虫早,因此对二化螟的雄性先熟现象进行了初步的研究,结果发现雌雄二化螟从初孵幼虫到成虫羽化阶段的历期平均长度存在显著差异,雄虫的历期为38.8 d,而雌虫的历期为40.6 d,即雄虫较雌虫要早1.8 d羽化。本文对雄性先熟现象的生物学意义进行了简要讨论,同时,就利用性诱方法对二化螟进行监测和防治进行了讨论。
英文摘要:Protandry is defined as males emerging before females and is a common phenomenon among Lepidoptera. Protandry has been considered a strategy to promote reproductive success and may prevent inbreeding depression; generally a heavy cost for many Lepidoptera. The rice striped stem borer, Chilo suppressalis Walker (Lepidoptera:Pyralidae), is an important pest of rice in China. We noticed that males of this species emerged earlier than females. We collected empirical data to determine the period from hatching to adult emergence, also called the immature period. The results show that the immature period of males was 38.8 d but that of females was 40.6 d. Therefore, on average, males emerged 1.8 d earlier than females. In other words, the protandrous period in C. suppressalis is 1.8 d. The biological significance of protandry, and the use of sex pheromone traps to detect the occurrence of striped stem borer in field conditions, is discussed.
