英文摘要: Glial cells have several functions during the development of the nervous system. The characteristics of glialpatterns during the postembryonic development of the olfactory lobes of Apis cerana cerana Fabricius were investigated using comparative anatomy and BrdU immunohistochemistry. The results show that a continuous layer of glial cell bodies defined the boundaries of all growing neuropiles in early larvae. Just before the olfactory receptor neuron axons entered the ntennal lobe,they encountered the so - called sorting - zone glia. Here,axonal contact lead to a pause in the growth cone’s advance and a subsequent change in growth cone morphology. Finally this enabled the sorting of olfactory receptor neurons axons into discrete fascicles,which terminated in specific glomeruli. Proliferation of glial cells peaked from the
end of the final larval instar stage to the prepupal stage.
