Chinese Journal of Applied Entomology, launched in 1955 and renamed from Entomological Knowledge to its current name Chinese Journal of Applied Entomology in 2010, is a peer-reviewed Chinese and English bilingual journal, co-sponsored by the Institute of Zoology, the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Entomological Society of China. Editor jointly by College of Plant Protection, Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University and Guangdong Entomological Institute, Guangdong Academy of Science.  It publishes original papers as well as review articles and short communications that cover all aspects of entomological sciences. It is indexed and abstracted in Abstracts of Entomology, Abstract Journal, Chemical Abstracts, CAB Database,  Entomological Abstracts and Zoological Records, etc. The most influential scholars in various fields of entomological research in China and abroad make up the present editorial board.

Aims and Scope

The aims of the Chinese Journal of Applied Entomology are to report the most recent achievements and advances in entomological sciences, and to promote academic exchanges among entomological researchers in China and abroad. The journal publishes original research papers, review articles and short communications concerning various aspects of entomology and various groups of insects, and accepts submissions in Chinese or English. Currently, our content are organized in four regular sections, i.e.,Frontiers and Reviews, Special Column, Research Articles and Techniques and Methods, for each issue.

Indexing and Honors

Chinese Journal of Applied Entomology is currently indexed in multiple databases, including:Chinese Core Journal of Science and Technology (Statistical Source Journal of China Science and Technology Papers), Chinese Science Citation Database (CSCD), Chemical Abstracts (CA, USA), Entomology Abstracts (EA), Abstracts Journal (AJ, Russia), All-Russian Institute of Scientific and Technical Information (VINITI, Russia), Zoological Record (ZR), Cambridge Scientific Abstracts (CSA, UK), and Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST).

The journal has been awarded the Double Hundred Journal of China Journal Matrix, One Hundred Outstanding Chinese Academic Journals, and China Top Quality Science and Technology Journal. It has been included in the World Journal Clout Index (WJCI) Report for consecutive years, and was selected for the China Science and Technology Journal Capacity Improvement and Expansion Program in 2025.
