Abstract:Epiblema foenella L. is a stem borer of Artemisia apiacea Hance. Through a systematic survey at fixed spots and times we determined that E. foenella had three generations per year in Changsha, and overwintered as old instar larvae in the stumps and hollowed out roots of its host. The effective accumulated temperature of a generation for E. foenella is 72652 degreedays and the threshold temperature for development is 12122℃. The morphological characters and habits of the different lifestages and larval instars of E. foenella are described and forecasting techniques and control methods presented.
