Abstract:        The mitochondrial DNA ( mtDNA) cytochrome oxidase subunitⅠ( COⅠ) of 6 geo-populations of Ostrinia
furnacalis ( Guenée ) was sequenced. The identity and variation of the resultant sequencesandtheirphylogenicrelationships were established by Mega 5. The results show that there are some differences in COⅠ sequences amongdifferent geo-populations of O. furnacalis and that the average evolutionary divergence between populations is 0. 012.Molecular phylogeny showed that theSanyanGuangzhou and Nanchang populations formed one branch, and the Taian,Haerbin and Langfangpopulations formed separate branches. The results of evolutionary divergenceandmolecularphylogeny suggest that the separation of different geo-populations of O. furnacalis is,at least to some extent, relative togeographic distance.
