Abstract:Monema flavescens Walker is a serious pest of garden trees in Guiyang. There was both one generation and two generations in its life history each year, in which about 3/4 of the total individuals occurred one generation each year. The adults from both onegeneration and twogeneration emerged in the last 20 days of May. The diapause stage, including prepupa and pupa in conoon, lasted for 8~10 months. Parasitic natural enemy of M. flavescens showed higher controlling effect, as the average parasitic rate of overwintering pupae was 34%. The melanous rate of adults was 2.75%. Three shapes of egg were found in insect cage(40 cm×30 cm×50 cm). During the study period (2004~2007), the host plants of M. flavescens were different in different year. Based on the occurrence and natural control, some control strategy and suggestions were mentioned.
