Abstract:Eriococcus lagerstroemiae Kuwana is one of the most important insect pest on Lagerstroemia indice L. in the northern Anhui Province. It has two generations per year and overwinters as second instar nymphs and pupa in the host twigs. The adults emerge, mate, and lay eggs from late April. There are two peaks of population fluctuation each year from the middle June to late June and late August to early September. Of the three pesticides, the Beta-cypermethrin 2.5% EC is the best against E. lagerstroemiae with its LC504.9818 mg/L and corrected mortality 94.52% at the concentration of 16.7 mg/L. The optimum result can be gotten if the Beta-cypermethrin 2.5% EC (16.7mg/L) is sprayed at the egg hatching peak (early June and mid August).
