Biological characters of Semanotus bifasciatus

Abstract：Semantus bifasciatus (Motschulsky) is an important woodborer attacking cupress, Platycladus orientalis in China. Both field and laboratory observations were conducted study its biology. There is close relationship between the occurrence of S. bifasciatus and relative humidity while the beetle demonstrated different tropism to color at different temperature with green color being the most sensitive to the beetle which may have some implications in managing this important beetle.
