Abstract:The current status of phytoseiid predators for biological control of the whitefly Bemisis tabaci Gennadius was reviewed in this paper. It is dealing with the application history of phytoseiid predators as biological control agents, the contribution of alternative food for the phytoseiid mites, the recent advances and industrialization in the phytoseiid predators for biocontrol of B. tabaci. Some possible problems were discussed with valuable species, such as Typhlodromips(Amblyseius)swirskii Athias-Henriot, as well in order to provide the guidance for future introduction and practical application of phytoseiid predators showing a prosperous future in combating B. tabaci.
