Application of 3D technology to the ecological reconstruction of fossil insects

Abstract：The application of 3D technology to the ecological reconstruction of fossil insects is introduced. This mainly includes three aspects: 3Dimensional insect modeling, scene design and artistic ambiance. Major operational procedures of the relevant software are discussed in detail and the experience and skills required to combine biology, computer technology and art in the reconstruction of fossil insects summarized. These technologies have many potential applications in future palaeoentomological research.
