Effects of temperature on the expression patterns of OcsHSP genes in Oxya chinensis

Abstract:
[Objectives] Small heat shock proteins (sHSPs) can be induced by environmental stress. Different temperatures can induce the expression of sHSPs genes in Oxya chinensis. [Methods] The effect of temperature on the mRNA expression patterns of six OcsHSP genes in fifth-instar nymphs of O. chinensis was analyzed using Real-time quantitative PCR. [Results] There was no significant difference in the expression levels of OcHSP19.1, OcHSP19.8, OcHSP20.4 and OcHSP20.7 at 27, 32 and 37℃, but expression levels significantly increased at 42℃, especially after 2 h at 42℃. There was no significant difference in the expression levels of OcHSP21.1 and OcHSP23.8 at different temperatures. Multiple factor analysis of variance indicated that there was a significant interaction between temperature and gene. [Conclusion] Temperature can affect the expression of sHSPs genes in O. chinensis but different genes respond differently to temperature.
