Scanning electron microscopic observations of antennae and the sensilla of Coleophora obducta

Abstract：Antennae and the sensilla of Coleophora obducta(Meyrick) were observed by scanning electron microscopy. The results showed that antennae were threadlike, and there were altogether eight types o fsensillum on antennae: sensilla placodea, sensilla basiconica, sensilla coeloconica, sensilla styloconica, sensilla trichodea, sensilla squamiformia, sensilla furcatea, and Bhm bristles. The shape, distribution and putative function of sensilla were discussed. Moreover, there were obviously sex dimorphisms, including different antenna sizes, and different shape, size, number and distribution of sensilla.
