Identification of sex pheromone gland components of the legume pod borer, Maruca vitrata, from China

Abstract：Sex pheromone gland extraction was collected from Maruca vitrata (Fabricius) virgin female moths originating in China. Analysis by GC and GCMS confirmed that (E, E）-10, 12-hexadecadienal is the most abundant component. In the extractions, (E, E)-10, 12-hexadecadienol and (E-10, 12-hexadecenal were also detected. The ratio of three chemicals was 51∶4∶45 in the sex pheromone glands.
