Effects of Beauveria bassiana on the fecundity and population parameters of Myzus persicae at different temperatures.

The effects of Beauveria bassiana(Balsamo) Vuillemin infection on the fecundity and estimates of population parameters of the green peach aphids, Myzus persicae(Sulzer), were investigated. Six days old nymphs inoculated with conidial suspensions (10.6 conidia per mL) of B. bassiana were maintained at 18,21,25,and 28℃ as w.ell as the relative humidity(RH) of 85%.The results showed that in contrast to those uninoculated, the fecundity decreased by 43%,31%,53% and 61% for 10 days, the net reproductive rate(R  0) of the infected aphids dropped by 57%,73%,74% and 60%, and the intrinsic increase rate (r  m) decreased by 30%,41%,36% and 22%.These results indicated that B. bassiana infection is of potential for suppression of M. persicae population increase, especially at temperature of 21℃ and 25℃.
