Abstract:       The Melanophila picta Pallas (Coleoptera: Buprestidae) is a destructive pest of polar in northwest China in recent years. It occurs one generation a year in Xixjiang with matured larvae overwintered in sapwood. In the early July, the new hatched larva feed bwtween phloem bark and xylem wood and it enters xylem wood in the middle of July. The control methods was suggested.
