Abstract: Pollution from manure and lack of protein in the diet are the two outstanding issues in animal husbandry. In recent years, progress has been made in using fly larvae to decompose manure and as a diet for livestock. The theory and technique of using livestock manure to breed fly larvae is summarized, and the use of fly larvae as a feed for livestock and residual manure as organic fertilizer are discussed.
