Abstract: The change in tetranychid mite species on deciduous fruit trees in China over the last 60 years reflects changes in pest control systems and is indicative of improved pest control techniques in fruit orchards in China. The change in mite species is remarkably correlated with control methods and the kinds of pesticides used. We suggest that orchards should use chemical pesticides rationally, and actively use biological control in conjunction with plant derived and mineral based pesticides, an approach that will maintain the sustained and sound development of the fruit industry.
