Morphology of Cephalcia lariciphila and its cntrol strategies

Abstract: Since middle of 1990’s, a pamphiliid sawfly became a new pest at Xiaolongmen Forest Farm in Mentougou District of Beijing, with frequently heavy defoliation on the larix (Larix principis-rupprechtii). Now it is determined to be the web spinning larch sawfly, Cephalcia lariciphila (Wachtl, 1898). The present paper described morphology of adult, egg, larva and pupa, provided with color pictures. The control strategies should put emphasis on application of yellowish green sticky traps for adults and artificial control measures for the eonymphs and pupae.
