Abstract:
Parasitoid wasps play an important role in the biological control of agricultural and forestry pests. The antennae and ovipositor of these wasps are important sensory organs and bear different types of receptors that play key roles in host identification. This paper reviews advances in research on the ultrastructure, classification and physiological function of sensilla on the antennae and ovipositors of parasitoid wasps and discusses some unresolved problems and future research prospects in this field. This review provides a theoretical basis for further study of the behaviors of parasitic wasps, particularly how they perceive external information, and for the use of parasitic wasps in the biological control of insect pests.
