Abstract：Plants have developed sophistical defense strategies during their long time interactions with herbivores. The defense system involves multiple levels in space and time, which finally exhibit a variety of defense patterns. Here, we summarized the conceptions of different defense patterns; then, according to previous researches and our work, the mechanisms and interactions between different defenses patterns will be reviewed, finally, the trends of plant defense researches will be discussed. This review summarized the plant defense comprehensively, and may provide some reasonable information for researchers.
