Advances of outline methods application in the biological taxonomy

Abstract：The applications of outline methods in biological taxonomy are summarized. The advantages and limitations are analyzed by comparing outline methods and landmark method which is another kind of significant approaches of morphometrics. The prospective application of outline methods in insect taxonomy is previewed.
