Abstract:
The coconut caterpillar, Opisina arenosella Walker, 1864 is a serious pest of Arecaceae plants in Southeast Asia that has recently invaded some cities and counties inHainanProvinceandFangchenggangCityin the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. In order to facilitate the investigation and identification of this pest, we studied its morphological characters based on the field observation, the genital structures and the wing venations; we also discussed and clarified the taxonomic status of this pest. Photos of related morphology and biology are provided.
