Abstract:
The predatory function, searching efficiency and mutual interference effect of adults of Chilocorus geminus Zaslavskij to Pseudaulacaspis pentagona (TargoniTozzetti) in different stage were studied in the laboratory under natural temperature. The results showed that the functional response models of C. geminus adults belonged to Holling-Ⅱtype in all stages of P. pentagona. The searching efficiency of C. geminus adults decreased with the increasing of the density of P. pentagona. The optimal seeking density of one adult estimated based on Holling-Ⅲ formula was 26.7 (adults), 185.2 (eggs), 47.9 (1st instar nymphs) and 46.8 (2nd instar nymphs), respectively. When the number of C. geminus adults and P. pentagona proportionally increased, the interaction coefficients among the adults were 0.3901, 0.7891, and 0.9827. When the number of 2nd instar nymphs of P. pentagona was constant and the number of C. geminus adults number increased, the interaction coefficient among adults was 0.0960.
